March Intentions

March 1, 2013

I won’t lie – I’m excited to put this past month behind me. February was crazy, cold, exhausting, and emotional. I already like March better. But before we move forward, let’s see how I did on my February Intentions.

Remove the phrase “I CAN’T” from my vocabulary.

I learned this month that complaining and saying “I can’t” is like riding a stationary bike: it uses up a lot of energy but doesn’t get you anywhere. Rather than really removing the phrase from my vocabulary this month, I was just hyper aware of when I said it. For example, “I can’t write my yoga paper.” or “I can’t make it through today.” Dramatic much? haha Did I finish my yoga paper? Yes. Did I make it through that day? Yes. Another one: “I can’t be a photographer. Who am I kidding?” It’s time to get some positive thinking and confidence up in here! Maybe this will turn into a separate post in the future.

Spend at least ten minutes doing something for myself each day.

I think this happened most days. I watched a lot of tv this month, which is unlike me (I am the girl who canceled her cable after all), but for some reason found it a really good escape.

Make getting at least eight hours of sleep a night my number one priority.

Yeah… no…

Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day.

Pretty sure the trick of drinking a full glass of water as soon as I wake up has changed my life. Seriously, try it!

Meditate for at least ten minutes every morning when I first wake up.

I’d really love to make this a habit. I’ve enjoyed meditating in teacher training and I’m interested to see what it would be like to do consistently on my own. I’ve tried it a few times and I’ve had trouble sticking with it for ten minutes without realizing I had something else to do. Pretty sure that’s not what’s supposed to happen…

Clean up my room for five minutes before I go to sleep.

A clean space makes me feel lighter but it’s so hard when you let it all pile up.

Read two books.

I’d like to get back into reading before bed and ditch the tv this month. This will probably help with:

Get eight hours of sleep a night.

Trying this one again ; )

What are your March goals or intentions? How did you do in February?

I didn’t do very good with my February goals either. Especially the sleep one. I’m trying again in March! When at first you don’t succeed try try again right. Hopefully March is a better month for you! Spring is almost here!

Yeah, the sleep goal is a challenge! I like the idea of cleaning for ten minutes before bed each night. I may set an alarm and clean at 7pm every night or something, or maybe 8 to make sure I am actually home haha. I just feel like I am always rushed before bed trying to actually go to bed haha. I may also set an alarm at 9 to make me actually GO TO BED haha. I am going to set a lot of alarms this month apparently!

I don’t have any specific goals for March besides getting through my moving to do list and soaking up the time before my big move. I like the idea of spending 5 minutes each day cleaning up!
